Anchuang for #gavinkatty1209

An Chuang (安床, settling of bed) is the process of bridal bed installation. Auspicious items have to be placed on the bed which symbolizes different meaning. In most cases, a new bed and new bed sheet will be required. However, for our case, we had already bought our bed early this year so we did not intend to get a new bed at all. According to our Meipo, as long as the bed was previously slept by us only. It will be fine. Well, getting a new bed isn’t cheap! So save on it lah =D But of course, we got a new bed sheet for sure. We didn't want to buy those "wedding" bedsheet. We wanted something that we will use in the future. A full bedsheet isn't cheap. So we chose a maroon colour bedsheet. Not really pink as shown in the picture. Haha. =P

An Chuang is normally done a few days before the actual wedding date. But because we did check for auspicious date and time, and the next auspicious date would be one week before the wedding date. Poor Mr Chang had to sleep on the floor after that as nobody is allowed to sleep or sit on the bed.

These are what we have prepared for that An Chuang Ceremony.

We got this An Chuang package from JB - KSL City for SGD$18. We followed our own traditional custom and was told that we should not light the wedding lamp until the night before Actual Day. For example: our actual day was on Friday, we were told to light up on 11pm onwards on Thursday. We did not want to switch it off after our wedding day so we left it lighted till then. The battery lamp have already last us for more a week!

Our An Chuang was done by Mr Chang’s parents on that day itself. We were told that it have to be done by either good fortune lady (whose husband and children are all alive and have many grandchildren) or couple’s parents (where both parents are still alive). After the ceremony, an angbao was given to both of them too!
Then we got Aden to help us to jump and roll on the bed. Look how happy he was!

With love

Hi Anonymous 2, sorry I can't remember the shop name. But it is located at basement of KSL city. There are two shops that sell wedding stuffs. 1 is pushcart, 1 is a small little shop next to a chinese medical? Yup, I got them at the small little shop instead of pushcart. Hope it help :D
